Moving right along...
This past weekend was one of the best weekends we have had as a family in quite a long time! Ryan really got the short end of the stick on Memorial Day weekend and ended up working quite a bit, including going in on the holiday. With that, he decided to take a comp day and took this past Friday off instead, so we were able to enjoy a 3 day weekend together.
Friday we spent the day down at the lake. We have been searching for a life jacket for Miss Milania for quite some time and finally tracked one down at Menard's (weird, right?) just a few days prior. Tammy also tracked one down at a boating store nearby, so we got lucky and actually had two for her. With that, we decided to brave the water and take her out on her first boat ride.
Surprisingly, she did very well. She was interested in the water coming out of the back of the boat while it moved and kept her eyes pretty much glued to that. Before too long, she was getting very sleepy and kept trying to nurse. I thought there was no way she would be tired or even consider falling asleep on there but sure enough, about 25 minutes into it, I had a sleeping baby!
Saturday morning Miss Milania woke us up at the crack of 5:30. We just decided to get up and get ready right out of the gate as we were headed to Des Moines to the Farmer's Market for the first time that day!
We got near downtown and realized we had made a huge mistake on the day to go...the Dam to Dam race was running through downtown that day also. Nearly every road was blocked..it was a huge mess. We finally made it despite having to run through a run and were so surprised. First, it is huge..way bigger than I imagined. Second, it was PACKED!! I had no idea it would be that busy! At times it was even hard to see things because it was so busy.
We spent the morning walking around there and getting a few things, including breakfast. I felt like the worst mom alive because we didn't even think to take sunscreen (rookie move) so we had to be careful in moving Milania's stroller shade with the sun and keeping her legs covered with my cover up. She did so well though and loved people watching!
After a few more stops in Des Moines, mostly looking for a sun hat for her, we were on our way back home. Ryan golfed and then Curt came and spent a little bit of time with us that evening.
Sunday was just relaxing..we went to Bob and Tammy's for dinner, but really did nothing all day. We had a full weekend and wanted to chill.
It was definitely one of the best weekends we had had in a long time and my heart was so full afterwards. These are the types of weekends I always pictured having with a little baby and I loved every minute of it!
