{weekend recapping}
Can you believe summer is almost over?! I swear, the older I get, the faster summers fly by! We have been busy trying to soak up the nice weather while it lasts and this weekend was no exception.
Friday we both had the day off and spent the day in the pool with a friend. I'm afraid pool days are far and few between now that the weather has gotten chilly but we tried to soak up the sun one more time!
I was trying to catch rays while the guys were having swimming competitions and trying to be Michael Phelps--do they ever grow up?! I managed to get some sun and one of them managed to nearly pass out from holding his breath too long and then said "you have to be willing to die if you want to win" in an explanation as to why. #wtf
Later that evening, Ryan went to the football game with the guys and I ran some errands and then came home and cleaned up the house, knowing we wouldn't be home the rest of the weekend to get that stuff done.
Saturday morning we both got up bright and early and headed in different directions.
Ryan had a company event (golf tournament and barbecue)... and he won this and was SO excited. It came with other stuff but it didn't make the photo cut :)
While I was bummed to not be by his side, I had my cousins baby shower that I wouldnt have missed for the world...
After the baby shower, I made a beeline for the jewelers. My precious ring was back where she belonged...
I didn't ever mention this, but a couple of weeks ago we were leaving the furniture store and being the ditz I am, I was looking backwards telling Ryan "I had a great day today" and got my finger stuck in the door hinge! My finger literally swoll (is that a word?) up in a matter of seconds as I looked down at my ring..it was mangled! I didn't even know this was possible--isn't gold supposed to be strong?! We took it to the jewelers right away and she gave me the bad news; I had to leave my ring there for a few weeks so they could send it out to have it worked on. So I had hurt my finger, mangled my ring, and managed to knock a few diamonds loose in the process. But finally, it's back home on my finger where it belongs.
Today was spent lounging around...and embarrassingly enough, watching 6 episodes of "Amish: Out Of Order" haha only taking a timeout to run to the grocery store so we could eat this week.
We ended the evening by having my brother over for dinner/ice cream before he leaves for college on the East Coast this week! I sure am going to miss him, but he'll be home in 4 short months for my wedding!!
And that rounds out our weekend. I hope you all had wonderful and safe weekends as well--and for those of you already at college, I hope you got off to a great start!!

I made her these little letters that spelled out her name. I used the animal print to match her bedding but used the same design idea I used for my niece Zoe's letters I made a couple years ago...

...T.GIFing today!
When a business gives me a price for wedding related things, I'm like...
When I'm swimming around in the pool, I think I look like...
But in reality, I look like...
When Ana uses sexual terminology I've never heard of in "50 Shades" (of weird) I'm like...
When I get behind a lady returning 40987 things at a store and I'm trying to buy a pair of $3 flip flops, I'm like...
When I first read about Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, I was like...
And then I watch New Moon and I'm like...
When I've been drunk for 6 hours and lady having dinner with her husband and 6 kids stands next to me at the bar, she's like...
And I'm like...
Or...If I'm really feeling friendly, I'm like...
I hope you all have wonderful and safe weekends!!! TGIF :)

...saving the date!
Now that our last batch of "Save the Dates" on their way to guests, I am happy to share with all of you what we did for them!
We chose to do a postcard style save the date, with our picture and date on the front and names/information on the back. On the back, we also included another faint picture in the background.
Another win? The postage we used was actually Hawaiian style "aloha" shirts--so cute!
We opted to send Save the Date postcards compared to actual letter/invites for two reasons:
1. I thought the picture we chose was very beachy, and the postcard theme went well with it.
2. They are slightly cheaper and since guests will be getting actual invites in just a couple short months, I thought this was sufficient for now.
I am so happy with the way they turned out and hope everyone got theirs!! Only 4 more months!

#YORO (You Only Register Once)
When it came to registering for gifts, we really tried to keep things practical. Practical, as in we registered for $15,000 dollar China.
Sike!
We didn't really register for $15,000 China (do they even make that?)...or any China at all for that matter. I'll buy that shiz when I have money to wipe my ass with...or money to buy toilet paper to wipe my ass with. Actually, I'll never waste my money on China--mark my word.
Anyway, I don't know what "norm" is for registering for gifts and lets be honest, I really feel awkward doing this whole gift thing anyway. So with that in mind, we kind of stuck to what is "normal" for us and what things are practical, and most importantly...what things we would really use!
So, we registered for things like....
![]() |
| A rolling pin, because I have to borrow Ryan's mom's every time I need one |
![]() |
| And rubbermaid containers, because we also always use Shelly's. See a trend here? |
| And measuring cups, because we are missing 2/4 AND the measurements have worn off ours so you just have to "know" which they are..hence the reason I never let Ryan measure things ;) |
![]() |
| And a safe box, not because we have anything good, but because we BOTH had to order new passports AND new birth certificates because we had "misplaced" ours. |
![]() |
| and a First Aid kit, because shit happens...and because our neosporin expired in 2010...and we still use it. |
![]() |
| and a meat thermometer, because I normally just guess. |
![]() |
| And new bathroom stuff (that I let Ryan pick out) because we are using mine from college still...that looks like this... |
![]() |
| Yes, those are real pink puff balls that stick out. Oh, and our toothbrush holder is the pink high heel. #notjoking |
But we also registered for some fun little things like...

| Luggage Tags |
![]() |
| And monogrammed towels |
![]() |
| And a new carry on...because every girl needs one like this. |
![]() |
| and every boy needs one like this. |
Finally, we registered for something

| Nikon D7000 |
We also (briefly) toggled with the idea of the "honeymoon registry" but ended up deciding against it--though I don't know much about what's appropriate for wedding registering, I felt that that may be crossing the line and tacky; back to my thoughts on registering for gifts in general. What do you all think about those? Have you seen one, or bought a gift for someone from one? I have mixed feelings on them..I would gladly buy someone a massage or put money towards their plane tickets but Ryan would not and throws a fit every time we get one. Also, I wouldn't feel comfortable receiving a gift like that, I don't think. So I'm very undecided.
We ended up registering for all of these things at either Target or Bed Bath and Beyond. We steered clear of everywhere else due to lack of time and lack of interest. So that's it, folks. YORO.
