| Picking up the bridesmaids' dresses!! |
As you can tell by the title, I am fully aware that this update is coming a little bit later than it should!! I have promised myself that I would keep up with my blog through the summer this year and keep everyone informed on a normal basis, but I have failed miserably lately. I apologize for my lack of posts
With that out of the way, here are a few of the things I have gotten done through the months of May and June...enjoy!!
DJ ü
Out of everything I've gotten done over the last couple months, finding a DJ has definitely been one of the biggest reliefs. Ryan and I didn't really have anyone in particular in mind, but we heard lots of recommendations from several people right away when we said we were getting married. After looking into a few of them, the person we ended up hiring was someone I went to school with, literally from Kindergarten on up. I am so happy he said yes to our event, and feel very comfortable hiring him, KNOWING he will be there, and knowing he will do a wonderful job; such a peace of mind.
Bridesmaid Dresses ü
I never know if the correct wording is bridesmaid dresses or bridesmaidS dresses--anyone know?! Either way, we have dresses!! As my cousin blogged about in my latest post (click here) all of us girls went to pick out bridesmaid dresses in late April. After deciding on which ones wanted, Ryan and I headed up there the following Monday and ordered them. We were given a time span of when they would all arrive, and after about a month and a half, I got the call that they were in!! They were in faster than expected and I was so happy!! We went up there that following weekend and picked them all up; so, I have 5 bridesmaid dresses wrapped in garmet bags, hanging perfectly off a hanging rack in my guest bedroom, waiting for their big debut :)
Marriage Counseling ü
As I've mentioned before, the process of getting married in the Catholic Church requires several steps. One of these steps is a marriage test you take (as individuals) to even see if you're compatible--this is literally 200
Engagement Pictures ü
Like I keep saying, I am certain that we are at the age where everyone we know is getting married/having babies/having birthdays--who does that?! So our summer quickly gets jam-packed with events, leaving hardly any gaps to actually a) get clothes b) get pictures taken. But, after having to reschedule these the SAME DAY I scheduled them, and then having to reschedule them once more a few weeks later, I am happy to say that we finally got them done--and got some pretty cute pictures in the process!! We will be using one or two for our "Save the Date" card and also buying a few for the house. But for those of you that won't see either of these, I will try to post a few of them on here later this week-- I really love looking at them so it's the perfect excuse! :)
My Wedding Dress ü
This is quite the long story, but the second-to-last weekend in June, myself, my bridesmaids and my mother all went wedding dress shopping!! This was the first time I had ever tried on wedding dresses and was not only excited, but also nervous; this is a big deal!! Without giving too much away (I plan on posting this crazy story next week), I will just leave it at....I found my dress!! :) It took some time and a bump in the road but I am confident that I have THE dress I was meant to wear and that was meant for me!! I absolutely love it and cannot stop looking at the pictures of me wearing it and standing on the bridal stool in the shop. <3 I am even MORE excited to show Ryan though and see what he thinks--he will not be seeing it or hearing about it until I walk down the aisle! It makes my heart skip a little just thinking about it!!
So, off the top of my head, these are the few major things we have gotten done over the last couple months; the planning has slowed down a bit, but that was my full intentions when I was so gung-ho this winter. I hope this got you all somewhat caught up on the hectic world of my wedding planning and my intuned with what is going on.
My special "thank you" definitely goes to my mom again this month. She has been incredible in all the help she has given us. She is constantly thinking of ideas, asking questions, and helping in any way she can and it means the world to me to have her so involved!!
My final thought: I want this day to get here so badly so we can move on to the next step in our life---like giving Dezi and Bella some siblings!!! :)
